Edinburgh Citizen Network

Citizen is a new initiative, building “a network of people working to re-imagine the city as a sustainable place for people to live in, one of social justice and equality, not just a space for consumption and profit”. The network embraces the activities of a number of existing groups, including Living Rent, the Fair Fringe campaign, Save Leith Walk, Save Meadowbank, Edinburgh’s Active Citizen Group and the campaign to save Edinburgh Central Library.

It is pursuing a number of goals, including:

  • Prioritising the quality of environment and protecting public assets and shared spaces.
  • Promoting fair rents and increased public housing over holiday lets and second homes.
  • Examining the impact of the festivalisation of the city and exploring alternatives.
