A Name for new primary school

The primary school in Canaan Lane has been given a name — Canaan Lane. This follows a consultation with local parents and residents living in the catchment area of the new school which clearly favoured Canaan Lane as the name of the new school.  The survey results can be found in report 7.6 on the Council’s Education Committee meeting agenda here.

Newbattle Terrace improvement works 

The works to re-surface the road and pavements, to widen pavements, replace gullies, re-instate trees and install three-way traffic lights at the Pitsligo Road junction are due to start in February and may last for six months.  Details of the plans are available here.

Astley Ainslie Community Trust 

The AACT has published all four parts of their feasibility study accessible here.  They plan to host a number of events over the next couple of months to consult with the community and receive feedback, culminating in a day long event at the Eric Liddell Centre on Saturday 5th March 2022.  Watch out for more details on the AACT website here.

City’s Climate Strategy 

The Council has published a plan for a city-wide approach to reducing greenhouse gases in Edinburgh. It outlines how to deliver a net zero, climate ready city by 2030.  The plan can be accessed here.

Festive Waste arrangements

Find out about Christmas tree recycling here and Christmas tree street collections here.  2022 bin collection calendars are available here (recycling) and here (garden waste).  Household Waste Recycling centres will be closed on 1st and 2nd January.  There are no garden waste collections between 20 December 2021 and 17 January 2022.
