The public meeting of Merchiston Community Council will kick off with a presentation of recent findings by the Polwarth Pavement Project. This will be the first opportunity to hear first-hand from the project leaders, Roma Menlowe and John McKenna.

Why is this project important? The City of Edinburgh Council is striving to develop 20-minute neighbourhoods across the city — these are places where everyone can meet most of their daily needs within a 20-minute round trip by walking, wheeling or cycling. Polwarth roundabout hosts a cluster of shops and amenities that could act as a hub for a 20-minute neighbourhood but is currently dominated by commuter and commercial traffic. The Pavement Project seeks to realign priorities at the roundabout towards a greener, pedestrian- and community-friendly environment that benefits local residents.
