This privacy notice provides information about how Merchiston Community Council (MCC) may collect and use your personal information.
As a visitor to the Merchiston Community Council website
We collect, store and use your contact details such as name and email address when you submit an enquiry via our contact form in order to ensure that your query is dealt with appropriately. If you submit a comment on a blog post that is then published on our website, that may include any personal name or other personal information that forms part of your comment.
MCC Meetings
The meetings of MCC are considered public records – they will be minuted and archived in line with the City of Edinburgh Council’s policy on community council records retention. Minutes are published on https://merchistoncc.org.uk/meetings/. MCC normally publishes the names of people attending public meetings, including those of residents who choose to provide their names. MCC does not publish email addresses apart from the official email addresses of its office-bearers.
Confidentiality
MCC will not pass your personal information to third parties, with one exception. There may be occasions where the law requires MCC to pass information about you to the police or other law enforcement agencies, though this has not occurred to date. Information will only be shared in these circumstances if it meets the criteria set out in the Data Protection Act 2018 or other relevant legislation.
Your information rights
