Since the eighteenth century the Meadows have been a popular place for local people to come and enjoy a range of recreational activities. The Friends of the Meadows & Bruntsfield Links have not been going for quite so long but, ever since the organisation’s formation on 18 June 2001, FOMBL has provided a useful focus for practical volunteering work on maintenance of the park and a forum for discussion of outside events, some of them quite controversial!
The Inaugural Chair of FOMBL, Peng Lee Yap, will be Guest Speaker immediately following FOMBL’s 2026 AGM on Friday 19 June to be held in the German Church, 1 Chalmers Crescent, EH9 1TW. The AGM will begin at 6pm and Dr Peng Lee Yap’s talk at 7pm.
The title of his talk will be “The establishment of FOMBL: achievements and failures of the early years”.
It will be interesting to hear about the historical challenges and triumphs of those early days.
