Commissions
Castle Mills was once the HQ of the world famous North British Rubber Company (NBRC). Artists have used Castle Mills as a matrix for a series of commissions to explore the rich heritage of the building, and the history of the surrounding area. These commissions are integral to the architectural design and redeveloped fabric of the building. This is a unique opportunity to discover the hidden histories and distinguished industrial past of the building.
You can discover the three commissions on a self-guided tour or on one of their free tours (see information below).
Free tours
Free tours are the perfect opportunity to learn about the Castle Mills heritage, the new studio, exhibitions and commissions. They will run at 11:00 AM, 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM. Please sign-up at reception on the day. Please note that spaces are limited.
A brand new shop
The shop is stocked with a great selection of handmade products showcasing Scottish design and original fine art prints made in the studio.
Cafe Ink
This new cafe is a bright space that merges modern design and heritage perfectly. It also opens onto a patio.
